MARTIN McFERRIN Obituary

Marty McFerrin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 30, 2016, at the age of 75. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Marty graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960, where he met his best friend, soul mate and wife, Charlotte "Char" Ann Payne, whom he married in 1961. Marty was a truck driver and warehouseman for over 37 years when he retired in 1997, from Fleming Foods. Marty loved his family and friends, being outdoors, his cars, old or new and betting on the ponies. His passion for life kept him, his family and friends busy. From multiple trips to Hawaii, Santa Anita Race Track, or Lake Tahoe, annual trips to either Dinkey Creek or Wishon Lake, sporting events, watching and supporting his sons and grandchildren, hot rod car shows, or just tinkering in the garage, Marty enjoyed life to its fullest. Marty is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Charlotte McFerrin; their three sons, Rick and his wife Traci, Nick and his wife Darra, and Kenny McFerrin. Marty and Charlotte have been blessed with seven grandchildren, who knew him as "Pop", Kaylli, Tanner, Daylinn, Landon, Karissa, Blake and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Oaklee and Greyson. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life for Marty at The Wedgewood Event Center, 4584 W. Jacquelyn, Fresno CA 93722, near Shaw and Hwy. 99, on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hinds Hospice of Fresno in Marty McFerrin's remembrance. I am so sorry to hear about Marty! So many wonderful memories to cherish forever from our days at Roosevelt, being in your wedding, the twins birth, my first 2 girls so close to their age, us as neighbors! Through all these years I never forgot the two of you and the pictures in my head of the two of you so good together. Charlotte, you were so blessed to find each other! May those wonderful memories get you through this difficult time! Hugs to you!

Very sad to learn of Marty's passing ... I worked with Marty @ UG/Fleming aka Flug for 23 years ... I worked with his dad, Mac & remember the twins, Rick & Nick, also Charlotte ... My daughter ran into Marty @ Wishon over the summer ... They talked for quite a while, especially realizing our connection ... I missed the opportunity to call him ... I had planned to this Xmas season ... My heartfelt thoughts go out to Charlotte, son's & family ... Marty had that dazzling infectious smile, kind-hearted devoted family man ... I know he is looking down, a life greatly lived, watching over his loved ones ... Heaven so beautiful ... Until you are all reunited again someday ... Blessings

So happy to have known this family. As a little girl, watching the love of lifelong sweethearts Marty and Charlotte and Lyle and Jean Cornelius, created a profound and wonderful memory I've always treasured. That a love from such a young age can endure and withstand and that your partner can still smile so big when you walk into a room after so many years, is a real testament to the devotion, commitment and hard work it takes. I know Dad treasured his time with Marty & Charlotte and he was so grateful to have spent time with you at his 80th birthday. My love and prayers are with you Charlotte and family as you find a way to keep filling the hole in your hearts with the many wonderful times and memories you shared as a family. You all are his legacy of a life well lived, job well done. RIP Marty. Love to you all!
