Matthew Briam Obituary

Matthew Briam
October 16, 1971 - February 2, 2021
Fresno, California - Heaven gained an angel with the passing of Matthew Briam on Tuesday, February 2nd. Matthew was born in Fresno, Ca. on October 16, 1971. He leaves behind his mom, Susan, his brother Dan and his wife Renci, his sisters, Rebecca, Sarah and her fiancé Colin. He is proceeded in death by his dad, Bill and his grandparents. Matt also leaves behind many close friends who were family to him. He was the best big brother; he relished being the "man of the house". Matthew was a kind and loving soul who loved life. He was a magnet for people; he never met a stranger, We all know how like to talk to everyone and everything! He had many loves including a number of ladies he would propose to. He would even ask our friends' wives and many camp counselors to marry him by presenting them with a candy "ring pop".
Matthew would always say he was a "lover not a fighter". Everyone who knew him, knew how much Matt loved "Rocky". He would watch the Rocky movies endlessly repeating the lines in unison with Rocky Balboa.
Matt participated in Special Olympics and was a great competitor in all sports. He especially loved bowling with his "bowling buddies", who he considered his best friends. They bowled together every Saturday for the last twenty years.
Matthew also considered himself to be quite the businessman always carrying his briefcase with him dressed in his suit and tie. He would often be seen doing his "taxes" because he wanted to be a lawyer.
For Matthew, life was always an adventure and a joy. He loved people, dancing, parties and spending time in Cayucos, especially on the 4th of July, where he managed to visit the ice cream shop daily.
Matt was a special, unique, spunky individual. He made everyone around him his best friend. He had a quick wit and a saying that always seemed to fit the situation. He had a tremendous love for everyone and everything; he lived his life to the fullest. We will forever miss him and cherish his memory. "Our hearts will go on".
Matthew passed away with his mom by his side and his family nearby due to complications from Alzheimer's.
A big thank you to all for loving him as we do.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held at a later date due to restrictions of COVID. If you wish, remembrances may be made to LARCS, P.O. Box 14144, Pinedale, Ca. 93650

I didn't know Matthew but I worked with his mother. Susan, I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have such wonderful memories of him to sustain you in this sad time. Treasure them.
