MAX ROBINSON Obituary

Max Robinson passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on June 23, 2015. Max was born on August 19, 1932, in Light, Arkansas, to George and Mildred Robinson. He graduated from the University of Arkansas, earning his JD degree from the U of A School of Law in 1958. Max married Shirley Swank on August 19, 1956. He passed the California Bar Exam in 1961 and thereafter began a 31-year career in the Fresno County Counsel Office. Max served in several positions, including County Counsel, until his 1991 retirement. Max was fortunate to work with wonderful attorneys and support staff, and was grateful for the friendships he had with each member of the County Counsel office. Max and Shirley were active members of Evangelical Free Church and the Greater Fresno Parkinson's Support Group. Max was also a 40-year member of the Fowler Friday Evening Club, a literary discussion group. The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided Max by San Joaquin Gardens, Hinds Hospice and Max's son Tim (a hospice care provider in Duluth). Tim was untiring in comforting Max and his family. Max is survived by his wife, Shirley; their three sons, Chris, Eric and Tim and seven grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at San Joaquin Gardens, on Monday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that memorials be sent to the Greater Fresno Parkinson's Support Group, the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens, and Hinds Hospice.

Indeed Max Robinson was humble gentleman. I take great pride in having worked at County Counsel with him for many of those years.

My beloved brother.

It is my sincere pleasure to have been Max's Administrative Assistant for many years of my 34 year employment in the office of County Counsel. I was fortunate to have had the distinct experience of working under every County Counsel until my retirement in November 2011. Max Robinson was indeed a very special humble gentleman and boss that influenced me and my son those many years.

It was my honor to be hired by Max and to serve in his office at Fresno County Counsel. He was always a calm and steady influence on the work of representing the interests of the County of Fresno. A remarkable attorney and friend. Always a smile on his face. Here is the last photograph I have of Max when he and I had lunch last year at San Joaquin Gardens. My condolences to Shirley and the family on his passing.
