MICHAEL TRAVIS LUTTON

In the close company of his loving family and in the hearts of many caring, long-time friends, Michael Travis Lutton, a native of Clovis, CA, proud University of California Trojan, and nationally renowned real estate developer, passed at sunset on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from natural causes, at age 62, in Newport Beach, CA. The outpouring of support, kindness, and heartfelt compassion from across the country to Mike's loved ones in his last weeks are a ringing testament to the high regard and deep affection with which he was held by those he had so deeply touched. Michael was the Chairman of Tieback Holdings, LLC, a national real estate development firm, former President of the Office Company of The Irvine Company, President of Bren Investments, Chairman and CEO of PM Realty Group headquartered in Houston, TX, Executive Managing Director of Cushman and Wakefield, and founder of PLC Commercial, LLC that developed one million square feet of entertainment centers in Houston, TX, and Novi, MI. After his feted renovation of the Biltmore Hotel and Tower in downtown Los Angeles, Michael joined The Irvine Company where he expertly directed the construction of several million square feet of commercial space. The cities of Newport Beach and Irvine dramatically bear his development footprint, high-rise office towers at Jamboree Center in Irvine, CA, MacArthur Court in Newport Beach, CA, Western Digital Headquarters, and the WATG building former AT&T building, in Irvine (Spectrum); Four Seasons Hotel now Island Hotel in Newport Beach, and Pelican Hill Clubhouse in Newport Coast. Michael had been active in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP), and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), as well as the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and World Presidents Organization (WPO). Michael was an involved volunteer in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America organization. With family and in business pursuits, Michael was a frequent traveler to Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Caribbean. He leaves a world of friends who viewed him as business partner, entrepreneur, adventurer, trailblazer, mentor, and above all, a generous, kind heart and spirit. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of 35 years; son Nicholas; daughter-in-law Julie; grandson Mason; son Matthew; daughter-in-law Vanessa; daughter Haley; brother Steve; sister Jennifer; mother Dorothy; and father, Dr. Tom Lutton.
