Richard Riley Obituary

Richard passed away suddenly at home on Sat-urday, September 20, 2008, at the age of 69. He was born in Fresno, California, on November 7, 1938. Rich graduated from Roosevelt High School and was a Business Major alumni of Fresno State College. After graduation, Rich worked for Humph-reys Brothers Insurance where he became a partner and eventually purchased the agency. Rich's creativity for fixing up hotrods and boats evolved into real estate. He sold the agency in the early 1980s to dedicate his time fully to Rich Riley Con-struction, where he re-modeled homes and built custom homes throughout Northwest Fresno and Car-mel California. He was a member of the San Joaquin Country Club as well the Viper Club. He leaves behind his loving wife Adele; his adoring children, Craig Riley and his wife Cheryl, and Kristi Logoluso and her husband Mike. Rich is the grandfather to Jack, Nick, Macy and Morgan. He is also survived by his cou-sin-brother, Tom Carlson and his wife Sally; and his sister-in-laws, Betty Riley, Bernadette Suckel and her husband Rod and their son Matt; and his mother-in-law, Marie Jeanne Sallaberry. A Celebration of Rich's Life will be held at New Harvest Church, on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances to New Harvest Church, 698 N. Minnewawa, Clovis, 93611 or Poverello House, 412 F. St., Fresno, Ca., 93706. STEPHENS & BEAN CHAPEL 202 North Teilman Avenue Fresno, Ca. (559)268-9292

Adele, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Rich and I were friends for many years and I know that you perhaps don't remember all the cars and memories that I have of Rich. I did many appraisals for Rich and advised him on purchases for his rehab business. He was one of a kind and I miss him. I wanted him and you to come to Central Oregon to visit, but now it's too late. So sorry.
Love and God bless.

In this time of need, I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts, and if there is anything that I can do to help you through this time, I would like to be there for you. Jan

My deepest condolences to the Riley family. I first met Rich many years ago when he started buying and selling real estate and I handled his escrows. It was a couple of weeks ago he called me and said he had a house he was selling and will call back when it sold. I always admired Rich for his professionalism and honesty. He will certainly be missed.

I was a 1956 classmate of Richard at Roosevelt High & CE graduate from CSU Fresno. I was fond of Rich & believe we were both members of the Excaliber Club. I had several classes @ RHS with Rich. He was a really nice guy & lot of fun.

Dear Adele
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Rich's passing. It was wonderful to see Rich and meet you for the first time at the RHS 50th class reunion. I don't expect you to remember me, but perhaps you'll recall we had a laugh over Rich recalling leaving his scooter at my house when we were in Jr. High School. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless

Rich was the original Kool Kat at Roosevelt High School in the 1950's. He was blessed that he did not suffer a long and painful illness with his cancer. He IS in a better place.

My sincere condolences to the Riley family. I recently became acquainted with Mr. Riley during a real estate transaction. The visitor comments of his craftmanship echoed at every open house that I held. He truly had a special gift of attention to detail and quality. I also have been in many of his remodels in the Fresno High and Fig Garden areas. His work was admired by many and he will be greatly missed. His family can be proud of his contributions to making Fresno a better place to live.
