Robert James "Bob" McKeand Jr.

ROBERT JAMES McKEAND, JR "Bob" Bob passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at the age of 73, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on February 10, 1930, in New York and made his way to California with many stops on the way. He graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. His professional career spanned 35 years in the agricultural industry where he was widely respected by his peers and associates. Shortly after his retirement, he settled in Elk Grove, CA. He loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed tennis, traveling, and his many friends. However, his greatest love was his family and the times spent together, particularly vacations and holidays. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois; his sons, Robert McKeand of Coarsegold, Laurence McKeand of Clovis, William McKeand of Fresno, and Scott McKeand of Elk Grove; his daughter, Lisa Crosswhite of Bakersfield; his cousin, George Horton of New York; his daughters-in-law, Cheryl McKeand, Lauren McKeand, and Carolyn McKeand; his son-in-law, Shaun Crosswhite; and 11 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Rd., Elk Grove, CA, on Monday, December 22, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at the South East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his name to California Waterfowl Association, 4630 Northgate Blvd., Ste. 150, Sacramento, CA 95834 or Ducks Unlimited, 3074 Gold Canal Dr., Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
