Kim Hobbs Obituary
January 18, 1949 - February 7, 2025
Kim Hobbs, 76, of Wasilla, AK passed away at home surrounded by family on February 7, 2025 after a long illness. Kim was born January 18, 1949 in Gladwin, MI eldest child of Barbara Redman Hobbs (Weaver) and Gilby Hobbs. A graduate of Gladwin High School, he served one tour in Vietnam shortly after he married his high school sweetheart, Molly Sheehan, in 1968. They were madly in love for 56 years and had two daughters. Kim was a loving father to his girls and an involved grandparent, very proud of his five grandkids and his great-grandson, who gave him much joy in his final year of life.
Kim worked as a welder in Michigan for several years before realizing his dream of moving to Alaska. Kim and Molly passed down their love for the outdoors to their children and grandchildren, and they spent many happy days hunting and fishing together.
In his later years, Kim was unable to work due to lung disease and he became a lot more philosophical and spiritual. He was optimistic about the future of the world, confident that we are all connected to each other and that world peace will become reality some day soon. He was known for his quiet strength and deep love for his wife and his family, who will miss him very much.
Kim is survived by his wife, Molly; daughter, Shelly (Ralph) Eller; daughter, Nickie (Chris) Brunnhoelzl; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild all of Mat-Su; sisters, Wendy (Henry) Miller, Kellie (Jeff) Beaton, Jill (Len) Witkowski; brothers, Joe (Darlene) Hobbs, Matt (Tara) Weaver, of Michigan; and numerous and much-loved nieces and nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Kim's family will host a celebration of life for friends and loved ones at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at 11231 Amfay Drive.
