Christopher Lee Barker, age 56, of Kirklin, Indiana, passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2022. Born Oct. 16, 1965, in Noblesville, Indiana he was the son of the late Marvin Dale Barker and Sandra Joy (Mason) Barker-Hart.
After graduating from Tipton High School with the Class of 1984, he proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army and later continued his education at Ivy Tech Community College.
For a few years Christopher worked for P.R. Mallory in Frankfort before hiring on with Brock's Grain Dryers, where he has worked for the past 10 years.
Christopher loved making memories with his family, and good or bad, that is exactly what he did. Picking on his sisters was always a favorite pastime, but when the kids were born, it shifted his attention toward a whole new crop of potential targets for harassment. However, his sisters were never too far out of mind. He also loved going on family camping adventures.
His love of outdoor activities extended well past the campfires and tents; Christopher also had a little bit of a green thumb. He enjoyed working in the flower beds and fussing with his tulips.
Another of Christopher's favorite past times was attending fall festivals. Somewhere along the way he caught the flea market and garage sale bug. Everyone knows that if you are going to hit a neighborhood yard sale, you must have a plan. Christopher's technique involved riding his bicycle from sale to sale. It beat walking, and he could cover a lot more area in less time, resulting in the opportunity to beat the competition to the goods.
Christopher was one of the good guys; always there to lend a helping hand to friends, family, or a perfect stranger, and he will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Christopher is survived by his son, Christopher Eugene Barker of Lafayette; daughters, Kimberly A. Ireland (Jonathan) of Vincennes, Jennifer M. McCord of Columbia, Tennessee, and Lynn N. Barker of Evansville; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, James E. Barker (Angela) of Fortville, Ferlin Ogden of Tennessee, and Billy Hutt of Tennessee; sisters, Joanie S. Isenhower (Craig) of Sheridan, and Sky Hutt of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and by his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; stepmother, Effie Jane Bowman-Barker; sister, Clenna Barker; brother, Teddy Ogden; and by his daughter, Jessica Goldy.
