Patricia A. "Patty" (Newhart) Smith, 89, of rural Frankfort, passed away July 30, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. She was born February 24, 1936 in Frankfort, IN to Dale & Bessie (Keck) Newhart. She married Hube Smith on July 31, 1958 in Monticello, IN and he survives.
Patty was a 1954 graduate of Frankfort High School. She worked for Indiana Bell for 15 years. Patty attended Jefferson United Methodist Church. She played the organ, she also enjoyed sewing, being out in the yard planting and taking care of flowers. She also took pleasure in which anything Debbie was involved.
Patty was blessed with many friends. The family would like to thank Via Quest for their compassion and friendship during the last stages of her life.
Patty is survived by her husband, Hube of rural Frankfort, daughter Debbie (Allen) Beckett of Frankfort, brother, Jay Newhart of Frankfort, sister, Peggy Hackerd of Upland, CA, bonus grandson, AJ Beckett of Lafayette, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kenneth Newhart, Bernard Newhart, sister Jeanette Swan and infant daughter, Tricia Ann Smith.
Visitation was held 3-7 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, with the funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
