Grady Hale Obituary

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Crestwood Cemetery for Mr. Grady Howard Hale, 68, Gadsden, who died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. His brother-in-law, Charles Robey, and Tony Butler, son-in-law of Mr. Robey, will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hale was born in Centre to Lucille and Howard Hale. He was a 1958 graduate of Gadsden High School. While at Gadsden High, he was a talented musician, and was a member of the musical group, the Crucibles, and the marching band. He was also a graduate of Gadsden Business College and received an associate degree from Virginia College in 2002. For most of his career, he worked as office manager for several automobile dealerships, including Richard Byrd Chevrolet, Richard Kelly Chevrolet, Bob Scoffield Ford, and Pollock Motor Company. He was a member of the Civitans and attended North Glencoe Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Howard Hale; special aunt, Polly (Loyd) Pate; and brothers, Victor and Howell Hale.

He is survived by his daughter, Paige Hays, Rainbow City; son, Dr. Max (Nancy) Hale, Birmingham; grandchildren, Corey, Taylor, Tanner, Kameron and Micah Hays and Elizabeth, Sarah, and John Hale; sisters, Ruth Daughdrill, Gadsden, Margerette Wallace, Memphis, Betty Smith, Gadsden, Faye Hale, Rome, Ga., Brenda Robey, Trussville, and Monza Miller, Gadsden; brother Walter Hale, Hokes Bluff; and close friend, David McCallie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
