Jerry Tumlin Obituary
Jerry was a member of Duck Springs Baptist church where he taught the men's Sunday School class. After graduating from Gadsden High School in 1959, he went on to serve as a navigator in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. After returning to Gadsden, Jerry worked at Goodyear while attending college. He obtained his master's degree in education from the University of Alabama in 1975. Jerry taught school at Disque Middle School for many years where he also coached basketball and football. Jerry was an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman who dearly enjoyed spending time with his sons. Jerry touched many lives throughout the years and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and William H. Tumlin; brother, Jack Tumlin; and sister, Betty Strong.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Lee Tumlin, Attalla; sons, Steve Jordan, Gadsden, Scott (Beth) Tumlin, Southside, and Todd (Jeanie) Tumlin, Gadsden; grandchildren, Claire Tumlin, Gadsden, Reid Tumlin, Gadsden, and Alyssa Tumlin, Southside; brother, Bill Tumlin, Southside; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duck Springs Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bailey, Bruce Bailey, Chris Bailey, Butch Tumlin, Mickey Kessler, David Tumlin, Harold Potter and James Whisenant.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Tumlin, Ney Park and former fellow teachers at Disque Middle School.
Special thanks to caregiver, Ms. Jo Sherrell, Wiregrass Hospice, Dr. Webb Sledge and Peggy.

Dear Family:
I have many fun memories of "Cuz Jerry". From jumping out of the barn loft into the hay, fishing for tadpoles in the creek, or running through a freshly plowed field throwing dirt "clods" at each other, many fun memories fill my mind.
Right now, Jerry is in a much better place than we are, and he is whole and well again and free from pain. May God bless and comfort all of you in this time of sorrow.
