Justin Paulk Obituary
Justin De'Andre Paulk, the first- born child of Darron and Chaun Paulk, was born Aug. 16, 1989, in Marietta, Ga.
He was reared in Gadsden and educated in the Gadsden public schools. He was a 2007 graduate of Gadsden City High School where he was a great basketball player and a member of F.B.L.A. He attended Southern Union Junior College on a basketball scholarship. Justin won a short story contest that gave him a scholarship to attend Space Camp. He was chosen by People to People to attend an Outstanding Athletes Camp. He was also selected to be listed in Outstanding African American Students Publication.
He grew up in Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Gadsden, where he accepted Christ as his Savior under the leadership of his grandfather, the Rev. Herman Spruill Sr. He united with the Fellowship Baptist Church in August 2001 under the leadership of Pastor Scottie Rice where he was active in the youth department, Sunday School and Junior Usher Board.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, loving and devoted parents, Darron and Chaun Paulk; his beautiful sister, Cody Paulk; grandparents, Earnest and Juliet Paulk, Tuscaloosa, and Frances Spruill, Gadsden; his great-grandmother, Necie Mann, Selma; four uncles, Herman Spruill Jr., Alexandria, Va., Earnest (Frida) Paulk, Randall Paulk, Northport, and Eric (Fredericka) Paulk, Dallas, Texas; two aunts, Kristi Paulk, Northport, and Hywatha Spruill Lee, Houston, Texas; special cousins, Kristilynn, Christian, Angel, LaQuinten, Brandon and Brad; god- sisters, J'Una Rollins and DeAsia Mostella; godbrother, Avery Rollins; special friends, Drandon Oliver, DeShawn Calderon, Josh Eley, Brandon Williams and Rashad Underwood; and a host of other relatives and many, many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

I have avoided reading this obituary online for a reason. I couldn't bring myself to actually read this in print. It has been hard for me to believe since you called us. I just still couldn't believe it! I feel like I have lost one of my own children. Of course, my children feel like they have lost their big brother. I just can only imagine the pain that you and Darron are going through. I pray for your strength daily. Because I know that PRAYER is the only way to make it.
I pray that the Lord gives you daily strength. I pray that the heartache will soon be lighter for you, Darron and Cody.

To Mr. & Mrs. Paulk and Cody,
Having been one of Justin's teachers in the 8th grade at Disque, I can tell you he stood out in the crowd. He was absolutely precious to all of us. Justin was a fantastic student, but he had fantastic character also. He was always so pleasant and polite. I was so deeply shocked and saddened to learn of his passing, but I am so thankful to know that he was Christian. Of course, I had suspected that he was simply by his actions. He wil be greatly missed.
