1947, Hickory Street in Gadsden--My mom had just recently married George Talley and we were living in a shared rental house with Kenneth and his first wife. He was such fun to be around as he always told me stories about The Lone Ranger (my favorite radio program) whom he professed to know personally. I had no reason to doubt it because the program was sponsored by Merita Bread Company which at that time was situated within a few blocks of where we lived. He was always goading me into showing him my muscles and showing him how fast I could run which were very small and very slow at that time but Kenneth enjoyed children (I had just turned eight) and it was fun to show off for him. We only lived together for less than a year but that bond has never left me. I only saw Kenneth a few times during the past 62 years but he would smile at me just like he did over six decades ago and I knew he was thinking about those times when we were both young and energetic. We are all saddened by his passing but, in turn, we are so happy to have known him.
Randall McCord, son of George and Sara Talley, Centre, Alabama.
