Opal Phillips Obituary
She was a devoted wife and mother. She especially loved her church, First Baptist Church, Gadsden, her grandchildren and tending her garden yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Edward Phillips; and her brothers, Oaty DeForest Chesnut and Joseph Benjamin Chesnut.
She is survived by her son, Ira Edward Phillips Jr.; daughter-in-law, Harriet Jenkins Phillips; and grandchildren, Aletha Dawn Phillips, Ira Edward Phillips III and Kate Phillips Tang.
Pallbearers will be Gary Mitchell Chesnut, Ernest Dewey Cordell Jr., William Russell Cranford, Craig Gordon Inzer, James Clarence Inzer III, James Forrest Storey and Harry J. Vance.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
The family requests no flowers.

So very sorry to learn @ Mrs. Phillips' passing. She was such a precious lady: kind, thoughtful and generous to all with whom she came in contact regardless of thier station in life. It was always a pleasure to have her among my regular patrons @FBC LifeCenter. She will truly be missed... but heaven is richer in her absence here. With deepest sympathy, Tammy
