We were saddened here in Texas to learn of Cubs passing. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity recently to meet Cub, and you Dorris, while visiting in Gadsden. Cub had such a positive attitude and at the time, he was so optimistic about a future. But, we understand he had a great deal of pain.

Dear Doris, I'm very sorry for your great loss. Cubby's passing away is still a great shock and personal loss to me and so many others who have known and loved him since we were in elementary school together. Mine and Cubby's mother were good friends and worked together in the cotton mill. Our grandmothers were our baby sitters before we were even in school. I will always remember the first high school reunion I attended, the 40th I believe, Cubby was the first to greet me. When he saw me coming in the the entrance, he ran, grabbed me, picked me up off my feet, hugged me and shouted "Ronnie Brooks". I have never felt more welcome or loved by a fellow classmate before or since.Cubby was a much loved classmate and a credit to the human race. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Doris, with your own loving, unassuming, quiet, southern genteelness you have gained a permanent place among the Emma Sansom High School Class of 1952. Just as our friend and "brother" Cubby did, we all feel your loss and pray that God in His infinite wisdom and mercy will watch over, protect and love you . With love and sympathy, Ron " Ronnie " Brooks.
