Gaffney, SC - Anita Turner Hammett, 88, of 102 Duffers Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Cherokee Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the loving wife of Randolph "Randy" Scott Hammett for 69 years and the daughter of the late Hiram Turner and Louise Cook Turner. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and attended Cecil's Business College. She was a homemaker, retired from Rabco Rentals, West End School, Thrift Loan Company and Nolan Plumbing. Mrs. Hammett was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney for 53 years, where she was a member of Fidelis Sunday Class.
In addition to her husband, also surviving is a son, Chris Hammett (Gena) of Spartanburg; a daughter, Julie Ann Gallman (Mark) of Gaffney; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Hammett of Rock Hill; two sisters, Martha Leazer of Gaffney; Jane Owens of TX; seven grandchildren, Holland Levine (Stephen), Tripp Hammett III (Emilee), Grant Hammett, Turner Hammett (Alma), Emily Hammett, James Sargent and Jordan Sargent (Karlie); and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hammett was preceded in death by a son, Reverend Randolph Scott Hammett Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 3:00PM on Friday, October 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Gaffney. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 3:00PM at the church with Dr. Tommy Huddleston, Reverend Kevin Hampton and Chaplain Roy Mathis officiating.
