Gastonia, N.C. - David Lane Peterson, 75, of Gastonia passed away August 8, 2025.
He was born March 20, 1950 in Cherokee County, South Carolina, a son of Betty Peterson Kirby of Gaffney, SC and the late C. B. Peterson.
David worked for Duke Energy for over 25 years. He loved his two daughters with a passion that made him an involved and dedicated father. David had a quirky sense of humor and was technologically talented. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as the secretary of the Elder Quorum lovingly known as "Brother P" to many. He enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. David was an all around good guy and could fix anything.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sherry Curtis Peterson; daughter, Leah Peterson Stewart (Joseph); sisters, Susan Howard (Mike), and Ann Gordon (Tim); grandchildren, Steven Stone, Thomas Stewart, and Makenna Griggs; sister-in-law, Kim Eaker (Roger); brother-in-law, John Curtis; and nieces and nephews, Nick Fort (Rachel), Aaron Dillon (Lauren), Travis Gordon (Ashlee), Kirby Velazquez (Hector), and Katie Dover (Mike).
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Peterson; nephew, Clint Fort; and stepfather, Collis Kirby.
