Gaffney, S.C. - Samuel Fuller McLane, Jr., 89, of 1001 College Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of the late Emily Beckham McLane and son of the late Samuel Fuller McLane, Sr. and Hester Holtzclaw McLane. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, attended Clemson University and retired from Southern Loom & Reed as a salesman after 51 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney. He loved trading guns and knives especially with friends at Kell-Co Sports.
Surviving are three sons, Fuller McLane, III and wife, Kathy of Gaffney, Daniel McLane of Biloxi, Mississippi and Philip McLane of Gaffney; two brothers, Brian McLane and wife, Myra of Columbia and Frank McLane and wife, Sarah of Blowing Rock, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Brian McLane and a daughter, Mary Emily McLane.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342.
The family will be at their respective homes.
