Kenneth Mullinax Obituary
Gaffney, SC -Kenneth Wayne "Hiyi" Mullinax, 76, of 1081 Ford Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Donna McAbee Mullinax, the son of the late Arthur "Humpy" Mullinax and Lou Versie Peterson Mullinax and raised in the home of Boyce and Ruby McAbee. He retired from American Fast Print, a retired U. S. Army veteran and a member of True Gospel Independent Baptist Church.
He loved his family, fishing and animals, especially his furbaby "Baby Mullinax". He was a very caring and compassionate man. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 3447 and a former volunteer with the DMW Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Greg McAbee (Rhonda) and Travis Mullinax (Sindi), both of Gaffney; Casandra Upchurch of Grover, NC who was raised in the home as a daughter; a brother, Boyce "Boot" McAbee of Gaffney; a sister, Judy Lanier (Wayne) of Gaffney; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Charlie Painter, Donnie Crowe, Raymond Crawford and Sam Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Leroy Mullinax, Marshall Mullinax, Bobby Gene Mullinax, Dickie McAbee and Brian McAbee and two sisters, Ruby McAbee and Kathleen Parker.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at True Gospel Independent Baptist Church with Reverend Duck McAbee, Reverend William Blanton, Mr. Hunter Cauthen and Mr. Mark Wyatt officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the McKowns Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are requested.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: DMW Volunteer Fire Department, 538 McKowns Mountain Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at the residence, 1081 Ford Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
