Marcus Chandler

Gaffney, SC - Calvin Marcus Chandler, 82, of 104 Crestmont Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Born in Greer, he was first married to the late Nancy Marshall Chandler, was the son of the late Calvin Boyd Chandler and Hazel Vaughn Chandler and was the partner for 32 years of Dorothy F. Peterson. He was a graduate and football player of Gaffney High School, attended Clemson University, and was the co-owner/operator of Gaffney Feed & Supply. He was a member of the S. C. National Guard, a member of the Limestone Saints Athletic Booster Club, a Shriner, a member and former chairman of the Cherokee County Recreational District and coached Little League Football for 20 years. He loved his family and fishing and attended North Point Church.

He is also survived by two sons, Mark Chandler (Sunshine) and Brian Chandler (Deanna), both of Gaffney; two daughters, Cindy Chandler Skelton (Rick) of W. Columbia and Laura Chandler Blackwelder of Gaffney; Richard Peterson who he loved as a son of Gaffney; Dorothy "Cissy" Powell who he loved as a daughter and her husband, Harold of Gaffney; grandchildren, Erica Presnell (Cody), Brandon Chandler (Nikki), Dalton Hopper, Gabriel Hopper, Calvin Chandler, Brett Chandler (Brianna), Austin Chandler (Amber), Summer Fowler, Eli Fowler and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Randall Peterson who he loved as a son.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Phillips officiating.
