Gaffney, SC - Our beloved mother, grandmother and faithful servant of Christ, Marie Harris Moore, of 167 Great Meadows Road, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the age of 85. While our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior, whom she loved and served all her life.
Born on March 4, 1940 in Gaffney to the late Woodrow Harris and Virda Cooper Godfrey, she came to know the Lord at a young age and walked faithfully with Him throughout her life. She was a devoted wife to the late James Curtis "J.C." Moore and a loving mother to Jim and Janice. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle spirit, and her constant prayers for those she loved.
Marie was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from Union Butterfield and the Cherokee County School District. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she formerly served as Training Union Director. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains, catering and cooking. Marie loved her Church, her Bible Study Group, and traveling places with the Happy Travelers Group at church.
Marie is survived by her children, James C. "Jim" Moore, II (Jackie) of Pacolet and Janice Keller of Gaffney; a brother, Roger Harris of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Wendy Holcomb, Shonda Moore, Nicole Barnes (Jeff), Seth Keller, Woody Moore (Kristi), Josh Moore (Erin), and Clayton Keller (Pauline); twelve great-grandchildren, Alex, Gregg, Madison, Holli, Cashton, River, Lliam, Christian, Sylas, Maggie, Sutton and Kole; a great-great grandchild, Maci; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Godfrey, her son-in-law, Ronnie Keller and her sister-inlaw, Linda Harris.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Corinth Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Dr. Dwight Easler and Dr. Steven Owensby officiating. Interment will be in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Corinth Baptist Church, 190 Corinth Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
The family will be at the residence, 167 Great Meadows Road, Gaffney.
