Richard Boone Obituary
Gaffney, SC - Richard David Boone, 81, of 206 Jolly Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Cherokee Medical Center.
Born in Miami, Florida, he was first married to the late Donna Boone, was the husband for 30 plus years to Leslie Harris Boone of the home, and son of the late Robert W. Boone, Sr. and Ruth Frost Boone. He retired from AT&T and Lucent, a member of the Florida National Guards and attended North Spartanburg Church of God. He loved his family, hunting, fishing and enjoyed the water. He was an avid Gaffney Indians fan, loved sports and was a three sport and three-year letterman at South Dade High School.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Matthew Jones of Spartanburg; his daughter, Pamela J. Peeler of Chesnee; two brothers, Robert Wendel Boone (Linda) and Raymond D. Boone (Jody), both of Florida; a sister, Carole Gentzel of Florida; three grandchildren, Delaney Price (Austin), Kyndal Peeler and Marli Peeler; also, Thomas "Monty" Cooper whom he loved as a son and Brian Oldham whom he loved as a grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger A. Boone.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brandon Ard officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Church of God Home for Children, P.O. Box 430, Mauldin, SC 29662 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
The family will be at the home of Pam Peeler, 330 Sorley Court, Chesnee, SC 29323.
