Dr. Wayde Ronald Barrett

1942 - 2021

Gaffney, SC - Dr. Wayde Ronald "Ron" Barrett, 79, of 306 Hampton Blvd., peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Westminster, South Carolina, Ron was the loving husband of Mary Nell Grubbs Barrett, and the son of the late Benjamin Frank Barrett and Sara Kelly Barrett. He received his Bachelors degree from Clemson University (always a die-hard Tiger) and his Doctorate degree in dentistry from University of Louisville. He established Cherokee General Dentistry in 1972 after moving to Gaffney following his service to the Army in Munich, Germany.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Meridith Barrett Norwood (Kenny) of Colorado Springs, CO and Kristen Barrett Cox (Craig) of Charlotte, NC; dear brother Benjamin Frank Barrett, Jr. (Patricia) of Easley, SC; sweet sisters Marian Barrett Baer (Dave) of Hickory, NC and Kelly Barrett Ling (Larry) of Aiken, SC. He was the wonderful & fearless "RB" to 5 incredible grandchildren, Ross/Caleb/Milas Norwood and Nicholas/Kate Cox.

Ron was a gracious contributor to the entire community with involvement in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma Club, President of the S.C. Dental Association, President of the Board of Examiners South Carolina Dental Association, Salvation Army, Crustbreakers and Limestone College Board of Trustees.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-12:00pm Saturday, July 31 and the memorial service to begin at 12pm at First Baptist Church, 200 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC. Dr. Tommy Huddleston and Chaplain Roy Mathis will be officiating.
