Addison Hardee Obituary

HARDEE, JR.,
ADDISON GUY
Guy Hardee died peacefully with his family surrounding him on March 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Addison Guy Hardee, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Pipkin Hardee; his wife of 53 years, Fé Collar Hardee; three children, Nathan Guy Hardee (Sandra White), Laura Hardee Dorough (James Dorough) and Alice Hardee Bailey (Christopher Bailey); and eight grandchildren.
Dr. Hardee was born April 7, 1938, in Mulberry, Florida. After graduating from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, he served in the Coast Guard. From there, he attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors and earned both his master's and doctorate degrees. Dr. Hardee was a member of the mechanical engineering faculty at Colorado State University and a research engineer at Bell Laboratories in Norcross, Georgia. He holds two patents for optical transmission media. A major passion in Guy's life was designing, constructing and flying model airplanes. Guy was a talented water color artist and also enjoyed reading, canoeing, folk singing and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church for 43 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Santa Fe River, Inc., to protect the aquifer, springs and rivers of North Florida, where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
A celebration of his life will be held at High Springs United Methodist Church on Friday, March 20, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00 - 3:00p.m.
