ALMEDA DIX Obituary

DIX, ALMEDA RUTH

Almeda Ruth Dix was born on February 16, 1927 in Lincoln Township in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. She entered Heaven's gates on January 2, 2013, she passed away peacefully at E.T. York Care Center of Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL.

Mrs. Dix was united in marriage to William Garnet Dix on August 3, 1946. She was a bookkeeper for both private companies and for churches she and Mr. Dix attended throughout their life together. Mrs. Dix was a long time member of the National Audubon Society and the National Wildlife Foundation. Mrs. Dix was also an avid bird watcher, reader, artist, animal lover and gardener.

Mrs. Dix had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Celebration Community Church where she and Mr. Dix were church greeters. She was very involved in churches over the years and was a talented organist and dedicated choir member. She passed her musical talents on to her children and grandchildren.

Almeda Ruth Dix is survived by her husband of 66 years, Mr. William Garnet Dix of Ft. White, FL; one daughter Margaret Evans of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Florence Everheart and Alice Ramsey. Grandchildren include Michelle Snodderly of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; Matthew Evans of Smithsburg, Maryland; Jason Evans of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; Amy Lewis of Lolo, Montana; John Whitehead of Orlando, FL and Lauren Whitehead DePaola of Gainesville, FL. Mrs. Dix also has thirteen great-grandchildren. Previous son-in-law James Boone of Ft. White, FL has also lovingly cared for Mr. and Mrs. Dix.

Mrs. Dix is predeceased by her parents, William F. Morningstar and Margaret Jane (McCray) Morningstar; her daughter Ellen Dix Boone and seven brothers and sisters.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 10am at Celebration Community Church, 174 Morning Star Glen, Ft. White, FL 32038. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Audubon Society or Celebration Community Church.
