JACKSON, ARNETTA L., 95
Mrs. Arnetta L. Jackson, age 95, passed away October 30, 2016 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Mrs. Jackson moved to Gainesville, from Clearwater, FL seventy years ago; she became a member of Emanuel Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board, Choir member, Chairperson of the Trustee Board for a number of years, and the Home Mission Committee. She was the Financial Secretary for the Jerusalem Women's Convention, and founder of Amicae Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Mrs. Jackson was the first Director of the Northeast Day Care Center serving from 1968 through 1986. Three of her children preceded her in death; Walter Stewart, Evelyn D. Jackson, and Antoinette M. Jenkins.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children; Dave Jackson, Jr., Gainesville, FL, Clara McLaughlin (Lonzie Leath), Jacksonville, FL, Torri Y. Tolliver (John), Houston, TX, nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Jackson will be held, 3:00pm, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Jerusalem Center, 8810 N.E. Waldo, Road, Gainesville, FL, 32609, Rev. Anthony Thomas, Officiating; burial will follow in Forest Meadows Memorial Park East. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.
Mrs. Jackson will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, and on Saturday at the Jerusalem Center from 2:00pm until the hour of Service. Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday at the home of Mrs. Jackson, 3811 N.E. 13th Drive, Gainesville, at 2:15pm to form the Cortege.
