I just learned about the loss... I loved Ms. Carol so much. She was me and my twin sister's preschool teacher in 1997. We've been close with her since then. I loved writing back and forth to her. I miss her postcards and pictures. She promised me she'd come back to Los Angeles to see us graduate high school. When that day comes, I'm going to thank her for being my first teacher who taught me to be happy and carefree. Thank you Ms. Carol for being my favorite teacher. I will never forget you. Much love to her parents, Bo, and especially Maya. I will never forget any of you as long as I live. My mom was great friends with Ms. Carol and she misses her too. My whole family loved her and will continue to do so.

Dear Maya,
I loved your mother deeply.
The world is a better place because Carol taught hope and gave of herself to many children and touched the hearts of the lesser fortunate. She even endured a Wagner opera with me without sleeping! Carol will never be forgotten.

I became friends with Carol in the mid 90'w when she worked for LAUSD. Within minutes of meeting Carol, I knew I had discovered someone with a special gift.
I am deeply saddened by her illness and passing. My heart breaks for all of her family members. Loss is always difficult, but when it is someone like Carol, it even more so. Her family and the world has lost a treasure here on earth. I know she is guiding us all in spirit form.

Carol became my first friend in Gainesville twenty-nine years ago. Her warmth and positive attitude took me in, and her sincerity and adventurous spirit created our bond. I will forever be grateful to Carol and her family for all that they have done for me and my family. We have lost someone very, very special, but she will always be in our hearts. My deepest sympathy to Paul, Polly, Tom, Bo and Maya.
With Love,

I am very saddened to hear this news about Carol. Even though my memories stop soon after High School I recall vividly that she saw the world through eyes of compassion, sympathy and love and was a model of leadership and virtue to all of us in ways beyond her years. I offer my deepest sympathy to all of you. Sincerely, Bob Reid

Our hearts are with you, the family members of Carol. She was one of the nicest young ladies we ever had the pleasure of knowing. We remember her well from her days at GHS. We met her through our son, Bobby Reid. They participated in Key Club activities together. We are extremely sad that Carol is no longer with you. We have thought of her often, all through the years. We will always cherish our memories of her. Sincerely, Bob and Shirley Reid
