CHRISTIAN RHOADES Obituary
Christian Rhoades, age 19, of Gainesville, FL, passed away on June 15, 2011. He was born on August 26, 1991 in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Christian was an avid gun enthusiast and expert marksman. He absolutely loved lightning, the beach and sunsets. He cherished his sister. Christian had plans to go into the Marine Corp after college to serve his country.
Preceded by maternal grandfather, Richard Hinkle; paternal grandfather, Jordan Mash. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Hinkle, Gainesville; father, Sean (Michelle) Rhoades, Gainesville; sister, Alia Rhoades, Gainesville; maternal grandmother, Joan Hinkle, Gainesville; paternal grandmother, Teresia Mash, Ocala; step-grandparents, Alan and Bridget Cox, Ocean Springs, MS; great-grandmother, Alberta Hinkle, Ohio; great-grandmother, Frieda Kriedman, Long Island, NY, many aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 4:00pm at Grace at Ft. Clarke United Methodist Church with Pastor Denny Heiberg officiating with reception following. The family requests casual attire and flops as Christian would prefer. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143RD St.
Because of his love of marine life and the beach his family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, 10408 W. State Rd. 84, Suite 104, Davie, FL 33324, Sea Grant Scholarship or Wounded Warrior Foundation, PO Box 75816, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.

Sean was my Shim Shin Do instructor and I remember Chris from seeing him at class many times. He was always a great kid. I especially remember how Lisa and Sean doted on him and encouraged him. No child was ever loved more than he was. My heart goes out to all of you.

Christian was an amazing person. From a very young age he was extremely comfortable in a roomful of adults. He was a very wise soul. Caring. Compassionate. Loyal. Respectful. SMART. Loved and thought so highly of, by so many people. We are going to miss him terribly. Christian was my only nephew and it was my honor to be his Aunt. Love you Christian!!

Mr. Sean and Ms. Lisa. Hi this is Amber alia's friend i have never really hung out with christian before but i have always known him as a great brother to alia and an awesome son to both of you. I am very very sorry to hear that he wasn't able to follow his dreams of being a marine but i know good and well that if he was still living today he would be serving his country with his god guiding him on the way. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. But remember out of every loss you always gain new beginnings.

Christian was truly the light of my life; now the light has gone out, but we will find our way by the glow left behind. My dear, sweet and highly cherished Bubbie, your Duma has loved you since before you drew your first breath and will continue until I exhale my last breath on this earth. I am so sorry to hear the tragic news about Christian. My heart goes out to you for your precious loss. I too, have lost a son and understand the unbearable pain that it brings. The overwhelming emotions! The lifetime changes! But, remembering all the wonderful times you shared with Christian in life can help to comfort you. And most of all, may the God of Love, strengthen and sustain you with His promise of Hope for the future. When He will soon end all suffering!

Lisa, I think we met Christian once at Rich & Tina's home. We will keep you in our prayers that you feel God's love in your time of healing and know that everytime someone gives you a hug or a smile for comfort that those are God's arms along with Christian comforting you telling you it will be alright. I always remember coming in to work(Sears Oaks mall) and passing you at the watch repair and i always said i wanted to be like yo get to chill and watch tv on your laptop lol at work since it was slow back there. Through Christians Grandmother Dusti, better known as Duma, I learned that Christian is and was a caring, loving, heart giving child of God. He was respectful and honest and had all the traits that make a parent proud. He was always there to check in on his Duma and pick his sister up when she was down. Many things Christian was in life and in his after life he is an angel. He will lead you when your lost. He will pick you up when your down and he will dry your eyes when their wet. My hearts prayers are for your grief to be shadowed by the memories of love with Christian.

Christian was the best of friend any one could ever ask for. Even though he was in FL, and I was in VA, he was the most compassionate, humorous, intelligent, and inspiring! I love the hell out of Christian and I will miss him greatly. I wish I was there today, but finances hold me back. But I will be there in spirit! To the family, my deepest condolences, Christian was like a brother to me, and I am thankful I got to meet him and become his friend.

Although I did not know Christian personally, I knew his Mother and GrandMother quite well. I know he will be missed and I know the pain of losing a young "soldier".
