CINDY LEWIS Obituary

LEWIS, CINDY BETTY, 54

Gainesville - Cindy Betty Lewis, 54, of Gainesville, Florida died peacefully at home on June 27, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with Glioblastoma. At her request, no service will be held.

Known for her piercing blue eyes, her talent in business, her love of nature and, most of all her devotion to animals, Cindy lived an active life rich with humor and adventure. An accomplished entrepreneur, Cindy used her talent helping others build and improve their own start-up businesses and charitable organizations. Among the businesses in Gainesville that benefited from Cindy's gift for creative venture are Earth Pets and Gainesville Pet Rescue. In her last year of life, Cindy struggled through her illness to create what would be her final gift to the community; No Dog Left Behind, a nonprofit organization focused on providing marketing material to animal rescue groups.

Just as important to Cindy as her work with animals were her family and friends. The closest people to Cindy, best friend Jennifer Ford and "little sister" Joy Drawdy, reflect on Cindy's life with an enormous amount of gratitude and love. Cindy was a steadfast constant in both their lives and she will be profoundly missed by them. Among the many other people celebrating Cindy's life and grieving her loss are her brother Roger Lewis, sister Irene Lourcey, God-son Tristan Ford, dear friends Dawn Brower, Kat Drawdy, Leanne Lawrence, Shannon Henderson, Karen Kain, Patricia Bradley, Sharon Nataline, Kat Baker, Keo Fox, Becky Mixon, Lavone and Jerry and her many friends, clients of Geronimow and colleagues in the animal rescue community.

Cindy was a strong and beautiful woman with an unshakable faith. Though her absence will forever be felt by her loved ones, they are comforted by the words she spoke in her final days; "everything is beautiful, everything is perfect".

God bless you Cindy. Your mom, dad, sister and all the dogs are with you now and we know you are smiling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to:

Your donations made to this fund will be used to continue building No Dog Left Behind, which will first and foremost donate to Calusa Animal Inn who selflessly cared for Cindy's personal and foster dogs while she battled her disease. Any remaining funds will be used for the care, marketing and placement of Cindy's one remaining beloved personal dog Rosey while she awaits her forever home.

Wow, I didn't know this woman, but after reading her obit it is clear that she made an amazing impact on our world. I hope that here family and friends, both two and four legged, can find comfort in in the fact that she had a new home.

Cindy was a wonderful and talented woman who will be missed tremendously. She always had time to visit and I always looked forward to seeing her when she came by. Her love of animals and commitment to their cause was unrivaled even until the end. I was blessed to know her and call her my friend.
