Donna Canova Obituary

CANOVA,
DONNA KILLINGER
September 27, 1936 -December 23, 2016
Donna Canova went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Levy, sisters Norma Weseman and Edith Thompson, children Steve, Judy, and Tom as well as six grandchildren Joshua, Carrie, Lauren, Daniel, Kinsey, and Elizabeth and one great-grandson, Adoniram.
Donna was born in Anderson, South Carolina and spent her first five years in Clemson, SC. Her family moved to Gainesville, Florida where she went to PK Young until she graduated from high school. Donna was in the Delta Gamma sorority and graduated from the University of Florida. She was a Gator fan her entire life. She gave her life to Jesus at an early age at First United Methodist in Gainesville, Florida where she was eventually married to Levy Canova of Starke, Florida.
Donna lived life with joy and compassion. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed arts and crafts, floral arranging, playing piano, poetry, playing cards, and teaching. She was also a Den mother. Later on in life, Donna became a certified Master Gardener. Donna loved and served her family and her Lord at every opportunity. She filled a variety of roles in churches she attended including Orange Park United Methodist in Florida, Central United Methodist in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Grace United Methodist in Gainesville, Florida and Mount Hebron United Methodist in West Columbia. She taught children's Sunday school and children's church but also was involved in adult Discipleship training and teaching the Alpha course material. She was a member of The Gideons International Auxiliary.
After graduating from college and marrying her true love, Donna began a career as a school teacher. She stayed at home to raise her children before she returned to work answering questions for the IRS. Donna also taught classes that enabled older adults to obtain their high school diplomas. Donna served on the Board at Kings Mountain Hospital and participated in the Parents advisory board at Orange Park High School.
Donna was dearly loved by those who knew her and she will be deeply missed. A memorial service is scheduled for Donna at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church on Saturday January 14, 2017 at 3 pm with a reception after the service. Memorials can be sent to Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29072 or The Gideons International.

A precious woman, greatly loved by those who knew her. She will be missed. It is such a comfort to know she is at peace now and basking in the presence of the Lord. Praying comfort and peace for those left behind.

I am sorry for their loss of such a caring family member. Please find comfort as Donna did by reading a portion of the Bible such as the comforting though found at Eccl. 9:6,10.
