EDGAR HOFFMAN Obituary

HOFFMAN, EDGAR L.

Age 91. Edgar Hoffman died suddenly in Gainesville, Florida on Thursday, September, 23, 2010 at his residence. Edgar lived most of his life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will be returned there to be interned next to his wife of 50 years, Margaret, who died in 2000. Edgar was a W WII veteran having served in the army in Europe. For his courageous service he was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war he returned to Milwaukee and ultimately became a Steamfitter. Edgar worked many years for the Butters-Fetting mechanical contracting firm in Milwaukee until his retirement. In 1994 he moved to Gainesville to be closer to his loving son Edgar L Hoffman Jr. He spent the last 5 years of his life living at the Atrium in Gainesville where he had very many good friends. Edgar will be missed.

Edgar is survived by a sister Ruth Sommerfeldt of Milwaukee, his son Edgar Jr., his daughter-in-law Chris Hoffman, grandsons Todd Hoffman and Tim Hoffman, and several nieces and nephews.

"Mr. Hoffman" was also a kind and loving father figure to his son's neighborhood friends growing up in Greenfield, Wisconsin. He kindly included me in family activities and always made me feel a welcome part of their close knit and outstanding family. I was always greeted with interest and a warm smile. "Mr. Hoffman" invested a lot of his time delivering a car load of neighborhood kids to ball fields, movies, lakes, fireworks and perhaps most special, to his family farm in northern Wisconsin. He was an honest, hard working father . The kind of man that made this country great. The kind of man that consistently demonstrated lead by example parenting we need more of today. He raised an outstanding son that was the pride of his life.
