STORTER, ENID NITZ, 98

Enid Nitz Storter, 98, passed away on March 26, 2014, at The Mayflower Retirement Center, Winter Park, FL, under the care of Cornerstone Hospice.

Enid was born in Lorain, Ohio, on September 12, 1915, to Frank and Wynne Nitz. She was the eldest of two daughters. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1933 and after a graduation trip to Florida, decided to stay and began working at the University of Florida. There she met her future husband, Morris K. Storter and they married in 1937. Enid worked with her husband Morris for many years growing their small family business, The Gainesville Letter Shop, into the multi-million dollar corporation that became StorterChilds Printing Company. Morris had the inspiration and the technical knowledge while Enid was the organizer and financial planner on the team. While she was working full time, she raised two children and served in a variety of volunteer roles in the community. Most notably, she served as secretary and treasurer of the University United Methodist Church for many years and served on numerous PTA boards at her children's schools.

Enid had a servant heart as she was always looking after someone else. She was an avid Gator football fan and attended her first Georgia-Florida game in 1933, where she heard the words, "Give'em Hell, Georgia" for the first time from an inebriated female fan (an inebriated woman in public was a very unusual sight at that time). Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially regular trips to Crescent Beach with her grandchildren, who named her "Meme". Enid was a wonderful cook, enjoyed painting, needle work, watching golf (Tiger Woods), and loved playing bridge with her friends.

Enid was preceded in death by her husband, Morris. She is survived by her sister Nonie Crom of Melrose, FL, her brother-in-law Dr. Barry (Barbie) Storter of Grand Junction, CO, and her two children, James (Kiko) Storter of Gainesville, FL and Virginia "Ginger" (John) Childs of Orlando, FL. She also is survived by three loving grandchildren whom she adored, Ginny Childs, Chris Storter and Andrew Childs, and two great granddaughters, Addison Childs and Emerson Childs.

A memorial service for Enid will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the First Methodist Church 419 NE 1st Street Gainesville, FL at 11:00 am. The family will receive guests at the Milam Funeral Home from 2-4 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Enid's name to the Methodist Children's Home or the Hospice of your choice.
