FLORA KAUFMAN Obituary
Gainesville - Flora Kaufman, 96, of The Village, Gainesville, Florida, passed away on May 12, 2013.
Flora was born in New York City on December 29, 1916.
She married Samuel L. Kaufman on February 16, 1941; they were happily married for 48 years. Flora loved her children, grand children and great grand children. She loved to be with them and have them visit. She had a difficult time spending money on herself but was extremely generous to her children and grandchildren whenever any one needed help.
Flora was a homemaker. She was also a golfer and an accomplished bridge player. She will be remembered for her ability to help others improve their games of bridge.
Flora is survived by her three sons, Victor M. Kaufman of Waterbury Center, Vermont; Frederic D. Kaufman of Gainesville, Florida; and Charles A. Kaufman of Black Mountain, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Flora is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Kaufman, and their daughter, Laurie Beth Kaufman.
Per Flora's wishes there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice of Gainesville, Florida.

I am sorry to read that Flora died. I only met her once. I knew her daughter in law, who tirelessly helped care for many of her needs and wants. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her greatly.

I met Flora eight years ago when my father moved to THE VILLAGE. I spoke to her because she was knitting and I asked her if she could help a novice knitter. She kindly agreed and I went to her apartment for her help. I loved her classy clothes and style. I have a home in Hound Ears Club, NC, and she told me about hers in Seven Devils, NC. She always asked about my father who was actually two years younger than she, but not in as good physical shape. I loved chatting with her at the Tower Club and looked forward to times I could visit with her. My dad passed away in Oct 2012 and I have not been at The Village since. Please know she was very special to me and I was fortunate to find her friendship.
