HENRY THOMAS Obituary
Henry Eugene Thomas, 81 of Worthington Springs died Tuesday at Shands Hospital UF in Gainesville from injuries received while on his tractor. Mr. Thomas was born in Worthington Springs where he was part of a pioneer family and lived in Jacksonville 40 years before moving back to Worthington Springs in 1992. He was a supervisor in Ironwork. He enjoyed farmlife. He was a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge #52 and the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #40, both of Lake Butler. He was a member of the iron Worker's Local #597 and the MoroccoShrine Temple, both of Jacksonville. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Mr. Thomas was a member of Sardis Baptist Church of Worthington Springs. He was the son of the late Roland Henry and Pearl Lena Bass Thomas. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mr. Thomas is survived by: His wife of 56 years: Shirley Jordan Thomas of Worthington Springs. 3 Daughters: Donna T. (husband Stephen) Crutchfield and Deborah T. (husband Lt. Col. Richard) Bittner all of Jacksonville; Carolyn T. (husband Jack) Keefe of Mobile, AL. 1 Son: Richard A. (wife Wendy) Thomas of St. Augustine. 1 Sister: Oweeta Shoupe of Perry. 3 Brothers: Earl Thomas of Jacksonville; Lester Thomas of Lake Butler; Gus Thomas of Linwood, N.C. 7 Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Sardis Baptist Church of Worthington Springs with Rev. Paul O'Steen officiating. Burial, with Masonic and Military rites, will follow at Dekle Cemetery in Lake Butler. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at Archer Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6P.M. to 8 P.M. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to: Sardis Baptist Church Building Fund; P.O. Box 60; Worthington Springs, FL 32697.

Thomas Family -I have just learned of the loss of Mr.Thomas and wish I could of been there. You have always been very special to me and each of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. I have just experienced the loss of my daddy (Dec. 13th) and can truly sympathize with the family at this time. Please know that I am here if I can do anything.

Thanks to all of you who have supported the Thomas' during this difficult time..Henry was a devoted husband and family man who loved Shirley and their children very much and together they raised four wonderful,intelligent and hard working children. Richard, Carolyn, Donna and Debbie all loved their father more than anyone can ever know and rest assured the Thomas legacy will continue through all of them. Henry loved all of his family and even though he was also a quiet man, he let all of them know how he felt on many subjects of life, especially his beloved grandchildren. As his only daughter in law, I can tell you that the Thomas' are a very loving family who care about each other and will take care of each other and carry out Henry's wishes. I am truly proud to be a part of the Henry Eugene Thomas Family. Again, Thanks to all of you...
