I remember in 1970 when he told me I had to go on dialysis and I was scared to death. He looked at me and Donna live or die. That was a long time ago and I had received my dad's kidney. I sure wish I had him around now for advise and guidiance and opinions. Gainsville renal clinic is not the same without him. I recently returned to St. Pete and going back there. Sorry for your lose and his wisdom.

Since meeting Dr. Cade the first day he spent in the lab next to mine 4th floor, J. Hillis Miller Health Center it was apparent he was a most special individual. As we did our research with the background of his opera singing and violin playing our lives were enriched from then on by this special person. His young family and wife will alway remain in my memory at the ages we were then.

While I was a student a UF I helped coach a new high school rowing team. The team had nothing and was borrowing everything from the UF team in order to compete. Dr Cade and his wife came to their rescue with 2 new boats. The team went on the win states that year.

I met Dr Cade just once at a boat christianing ceremony - I could tell immediately he was gentle soul and a dedicated Doctor. Just in the way he spoke to everyone there. and the fact that he named the first boat after his mother.

Rowing in Gainesville has taken off since then and I believe they owe a great deal of their success to Dr Cade and his family.

I feel for the family and for those who know him better than I did - he will be sorely missed.

We met Stephen only recently, then his Mom and a couple of his sisters, but were immediatly struck by their easy manner and genuine desire to "reach out" to others. In the short time we've known him, Stephen has become a good friend, and what he has showed us of the family reveals & supports core Family values and character his Dad surely taught by example.

We have no doubt Dr. Cade was a fine man whose legacy and example shall live on and inspire others to aspire to be so fondly remembered by so many!

The Wilder and Herrick Families offer our sincere condolences to all of your Family on the loss of such an honored Gentleman!

I first met Bobby (as we called him) in the first grade in Highland
Park elementary school in San Antonio. We were best friends all
through school. We both attended Brackenridge High School, class of
'45. He was a little guy, tough as nails, with a heart of gold.
He taught me many of life's lessons even at such an early age. I
spent many happy hours visiting him and his family at their house
on High street on the south side of town. I will miss him terribly.
My one regret is that I did not stay in closer touch with him over
the years. My heart goes out to Mary and their whole family. Also
to Thelma, his sister, who was and is like a sister to me.

Dr. Cade did much good in our (Gainesville) community. Many will remember him for the invention of Gatorade, or for his generosity to so many local organizations. As a fellow Studebaker enthusiast, I, however, remember him as "the Studebaker man". I had a 1963 Lark for years. I was hit by a drunk driver and, though the Lark protected me, it was wrecked. It sat in our barn for many more years until finally, I sold it to Dr. Cade for he and Stephen to fix or use for parts. I can think of no better home for it. Dr. Cade was a remarkable man who did remarkable things. We'll miss you, "Studebaker Man"! My sympathy and prayers are with your family.

December 1, 2007

My deepest condolences to the Cade family and friends. Doc meant a lot to us here in South Georgia. I met him a few times at different Stduebaker meets, and a couple times down at the "pole barns". My grandparents met Doc and the family back in the early 80's, I believe. All of the Cades have been good friends since.

For my last class of the day at high school, I have to drive to the local tech college. I was about half way there, in my Studebaker, when my Mom called to tell me the news. What a coincidence, I find this out, when driving a Studebaker...

Doc was an amazing fella, who didn't mind showing you his Studebaker collection, and showing how a true gentlemen acted. Dr. Cade will be missed, but his legacy will live on in many, many others. I know he touched more than a few lives, mine included.

One of the very few Studebakers he ever sold, was a '56 Sky Hawk. He sold it to my grandad some 15 years ago. The title is still in Doc's name. Someday soon, we will restore that car, and dedicate it to Doc.

And if there's anything that the Thornton/Burnette family can do, please, let us know.

Dr. Cade added at least 10 years to my dad's life. My dad moved to Tenn. and traveled to G'ville to see Dr. Cade every 6 months. He always had such great stories about his visits. My mom and dad trusted and loved Dr. Cade. I know he and my dad are in heaven telling each other jokes again. Thank you Dr. Cade for giving us more years with our dad than other doctors had given him.
