JAMES O'STEEN Obituary

O'STEEN,

JAMES FRANKLIN "FRANK"

Gainesville - James Franklin "Frank" O'Steen of Gainesville, FL, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home after an extended illness. Frank was born June 21, 1938 in Trenton, FL to Marvin Henry and Lucile O'Steen. Frank graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in South Florida and played baseball throughout his early years with a dream of being a professional baseball player. He was accepted by the NY Yankees and then rejected because of extensive knee surgery in high school. At that time he went on to be a certified electrician and was assistant business agent for 8 years at Local #1205 in Gainesville. He owned and operated Union Seafood for several years. He was also owner and operated R & J Manufacturing in Gainesville for many years, until turning it over to his nephew James Williams "Jim" Guyette. Frank especially enjoyed working in his garden and fishing as often as possible.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Loyce Morgan O'Steen; granddaughter, Jennifer Diane Godwin White (Bo) of Hawthorne; great grandchildren, Waylon and Kinsey White of Hawthorne; many nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Evilee "Mama" Dawson of Windsor; sisters-in-law, Clelan Fowler of Hawthorne, Genene Byrd (Wayne) of Hawthorne, Joyce Guyette (Ray) of Windsor and Beverly O'Steen of Trenton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Henry and Lucile Lee O'Steen; son, William Henry "Billy"; daughter, Dayna Marie and their mother, Diane O'Day O'Steen; grandson, John Franklin Godwin; brother, Marvin Henry "Hank" O'Steen (Beverly) and sister, Betty Jean "BJ" Sizemore.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at The Church at Orange Heights (15 miles NE of Gainesville on SR 26 and Hwy 301), with Rev. Lonnie Broome officiating. In lieu of flowers please donate to The Church at Orange Heights Building Fund, 16700 NE State Road 26, Hawthorne, FL 32640.
