Jeffrey Fuquay Obituary

Jeffrey Sherman Fuquay
Gainesville - JEFFREY SHERMAN FUQUAY, 47, passed away at Shands hospital in Gainesville on February 7th from a heart attack and other serious health problems. His remains were buried at Forest Meadows Cemetery on Feb. 22.
Jeff was born in Dec. 1973 in Gainesville FL. Upon growing up, he unfortunately developed serious mental health problems; but, despite his emotional challenges, he always stayed strong morally and spiritually. He excelled at computer programming and once worked at the UF Smathers Library with his father, a librarian who also worked there at UF.
Jeff was a spiritual Christian and true believer in God and appreciated many teachings of Buddhism in helping him cope with difficulties in life. He was like a philosopher, with a good heart offering enlightening counsel to others on problems.
He was also a talented computer programmer. Jeff had a superb knowledge of C plus programming and had created his own impressive web site. He enjoyed video games, meditation, crystals and new age items for relaxation. He loved watching sci-fi movies, TV shows, and Gator football games. He always had a good time playing bowling and billiards with family and loved drinking beer.
Jeff was always a pleasant person to be around and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his father Stephen Fuquay, brother Darrell Fuquay of Gainesville, and a grand aunt and several cousins in the Gainesville and Ocala area.
Due to the Covid19 pandemic, no funeral will be held at this time, but, sometime in April or May, we plan to have a joint funeral remembering him and his late grandmother Ruby Marie Henderson at Forest Meadows Cemetery in Gainesville.
All in his family are invited to attend, although due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and /or mask wearing is encouraged.
