Jim Gill Obituary
Jim Shack Gill, Jr. Gy Sgt/USMC/Ret., age 63 of Bronson, FL. passed away on Sunday May 10, 2009 in Trenton, FL. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Newberry High School in 1963. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, served 20 years and retired in 1984. He then attended Memphis State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in education and was a substitute teacher at various schools, teaching history. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Chiefland, FL. and the American Legion in Bronson, FL. He enjoyed working at Curves of Chiefland, and loved the outdoors, traveling in his RV and reading about history. He volunteered his time to the Levy County Humane Society where he assisted with rescues and transports.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Nellie Gill, a sister Myra O. Gill, and a brother Danny F. Gill and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Becky L. Gill, MD., sisters Cynthia G. Steptoe and Teresa G. Watson, brothers Rev. Johnny P. Gill and Douglas F. Gill and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Milam Funeral Home in Newberry, FL., where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday May 13, 2009. Interment with military honors will follow at Newberry cemetery. MILAM FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES

We were truly upset and deeply sadened to hear of Jim's recent passing. We currently reside as neighbors to the Gill family and our thoughts and prayers are with Becky and Hobo as they sort through the emotions of loosing such a wonderful man. We will miss him.

I graduated high school with Jim in 1963. He was a very quiet person then. Saw him at our 35 year reunion in 1998, and he was very talkative. I will always remember him as a friend.
