TOOHEY, JOHN T. (JACK), 86



1921-2007



John T. (Jack) Toohey, 86, died on Tuesday, November 20 at the North Florida Specialty Care in Gainesville.



Mr. Toohey is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maxine Childs Toohey, of Gainesville, a daughter, Patricia Toohey Hardeman (husband Joe) and a son, Darrell Toohey (wife Chazz), both of Jacksonville, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Wayne Toohey.



Mr. Toohey was born in Brooklyn, NY but grew up in Peekskill, NY. He served in the U.S. Army Air corps during World War II in the European Theatre. After returning from the service he joined Eastern Airlines and during his 32 year career was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, Boston, MA, Orlando, FL and Gainesville. He retired in 1978.



Because of his love for golf he began a second career in 1980 working for the University of Florida Athletic Association at the University Golf Course and continued to 1999.



As requested by Mr. Toohey there will be no services.



Arrangements are under the care of MORING FUNERAL HOME, Melrose, FL.
