HADDOX, JOSEPH D.
Joseph D. Haddox passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014.
Born July 23, 1935 in Marietta Ohio to Donald F. Haddox and Gladys Kidd Haddox. Joe graduated from Marietta High School in 1953 where he played varsity basketball. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1954-1956 on sea-going duty. He married his high school sweetheart, Bettie 'Jo' Wildermuth on May 18, 1956 and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year! Joe had one brother, Thomas R. Haddox (deceased), and has 10 surviving nieces and nephews. Through the years he worked in sheet metal, as an air balance technician and was the franchise owner of Stanley Steemer Carpet Cleaning in Alachua County, FL. Joe was a man of faith and proudly served as a Deacon at The Family Church, 2022 SW 122nd Street in Gainesville where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Joe's name to either the Family Church or to Celebrate Recovery c/o The Family Church.
