Years ago, Bob (and everyone else), welcomed me warmly as a family member. And family was so important to Bob. Wonderful man - father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather!! and friend. Missed but never forgotten.

Bob Swinford was one of the best men I have ever known. He was a strong person, yet kind and gentle. He set an example that all young men would do well to emulate. He always found time for others, and made anyone around him feel at ease, and feel that he was genuinely interested in them. I was fortunate to have known him for more than 65 years, from the time I was a small boy. and I cherish what he contributed to my life over the years. Rest in peace, Bob.

One of my fondest Boy Scout memories was earning a Forestry Merit Badge from Dr. Swinford over 60 years ago. I still remember learning to use aerial photography, a planinimiter and trekking out to predetermined stand of timber to evaluate an learn some of the techniques foresters use. If my limited contact is any indication, Dr. Swinford generosity must have had a positive influence on many others like myself.

Bob was a truly noble human being, and everyone who knew him was touched by his kindness, intelligence and many talents. He is a wonderful role model for people of all ages, leading his life with dignity and compassion for almost a century. We're all better people for having known and loved Bob.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the Swinford family from all of us at F&W Forestry. Bob was a forester's forester. He was a exceptionally brilliant and outstanding educator. Our profession has lost another pioneer who constantly and unselfishly shared his knowledge of the forest throughout a long and outstanding career.
