Lena Anderson Obituary
Lena Shevelle Rhodes Anderson, age 44, a resident of Alachua, passed away suddenly at her home December 4, 2010. Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of Santa Fe High School, class of 1984. She was a member of Compassionate Outreach Ministries, Gainesville, FL. She was a former employee of Nationwide Insurance Company, Southern Bell (Jacksonville), and bus driver for Alachua County School Board Transportation Department.
Shevelle loved the Lord, church and having a shouting good time. She held the position of Chaplain for the Bogan Family Reunion for several years, as well as the Welch Family Reunion. Family was very important to Shevelle; she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Shevelle also loved the beach, making crafts, the outdoors, animals, (especially cows), and children.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Anderson, Alachua, FL, children, Dereck O'Neal, Gainesville, FL, Lakyria O'Neal, Columbia, SC, step-children; Travis Anderson Tony Anderson, Jr., Tanesha Anderson, all of Gainesville, FL, parents; William Rhodes, Gainesville, FL, Mary Rhodes, Alachua, FL, siblings; Lawrence Washington, Newberry, FL, Travis King, Emma Rhodes, Alachua, FL, April Rhodes Williams, both of Gainesville, FL, Ron Rhodes, Renee Amos, both of Atlanta, GA, Martha Washington, High Springs, FL, Rhonda Douglas, Greensboro, NC; god-sister; Sharon Williams.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson will be held, 11:00am, Sat., December 11, 2010 at Compassionate Outreach Ministries, Bishop Larry J. Dennison, Officiating; burial will follow in Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua, FL. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Ave., Gainesville, Florida.
Viewing-Chestnut Memorial Chapel, Fri. Dec., 10, 2010 from 2-7pm; and on Sat. at the Church from10am until the hour of service. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Rhodes, 10302 N.W. 206th Avenue, Alachua, FL, at 10am to form the cortege.

I just heard the news of another one of God's children gone home to recieve her reward for faithful, dedicated service to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Oh how Shevelle loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, soul and body. We remember her testimony of how the Lord was working in her life and how she wanted nothing more than to serve him unconditionally. She had a smile that reached deep into her soul and radiated throughout.
It is good to know that in times like these we have a saviour who will strengthen our hearts, souls and spirit. He will be that rock on which we all can lean and depend.
We are so sorry we were not able to attend the homegoing service for Shevelle, but we are keeping each of you in our thoughts and prayers for the days to come will surely be hard to bear (at times). Be encouraged in the Lord and he will give you the peace and understanding that you desire.
