Marilyn was born on October 9, 1933 in Wartsburg, Tennessee to Irene LaRue Pittman and Gordon Franklin Human. She graduated from high school in Crossville, Tennessee and then moved to Memphis where she met and married Ernest Collins Jr. The couple moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1954 so Mr. Collins could attend the University of Florida. Following that, she worked as a secretary in the College of Education at the University of Florida and retired from there. In retirement she enjoyed dancing and travel and relocated to Hernando, FL. She returned to Gainesville to be near her family after her diagnosis of Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her daughter Melony Gay Collins Hale and husband Gerard Hale Jr., her son Ernest 'Marque' Collins III, her grandsons Gerard Hale III and Charles Joseph Hale, and her granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Collins.

I remember Gayle as the ward clerk at NFRMC , 2 North as it was known then. She also knew my late sister Mayme from church. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. May God be her family during this difficult time.

Marque and Gay, I remember you and your parents from our days at Eastside Baptist. I attended Sunday School with you. Many years later, your Mom and I were neighbors in NW Gainesville. I really liked her. You have my deepest condolences. May the Lord comfort you now and always. George Sherouse

Gay/Marque, my heart is broken on your behalf. Two precious children and of course the grands, as well as your Dad, are in my prayers and thoughts at this time. Gayle was so sweet in so many ways, and was so good with that sewing machine. She could turn fifty cents into a pretty dress any day of the week. You will find comfort and peace from The Lord. God's grace is sufficient. Heaven is not all that far away. Shirley Reid
