I was fortunate enough to have taught with Pam at Ashton Elem. Back 1977. I just found out about her passing today. She was always smiling and a great teacher.
We used to play tennis together after school - and she was good! I will miss her.

Dear Greg and Jeanne,
I can't begin to tell you how shocked and saddened I was when I returned to town and heard of Pam's death. I was so glad to have reconnected with you recently and now can't believe I won't be seeing Pam's shining face and smile again, but I will remember her always. (I even remember a birthday party at the Clark home from junior high.) Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Dear "Miss" Jeanne, Burkie and all of Pam's beloved family,
Fr. Tom, Martha and other Fitzgeralds send our empathies and continual prayers. From an old collection of 1950's prayers---
"Whatsoever Things"
Grant, O Lord, we beseech thee, that this day may be to us one of healthful work and progress. Whether outwardly joyous or sad, may it be fruitful in good endeavor. Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely and of good report, grant that with one accord we may think on these things to do them: through JC our L.
My prayer for you is that whatever and whenever you "do", that you grieve strongly, enjoy laughter and assist one another in anger and pain, so knowing hope and constancy of love.
His Grace and Consolation, always,
Grey Fitzgerald Thomason

It was with great sadness when I learned of Mrs. Brewer's death. My daugher, Morgan, was a student of hers at Ashton, and she now attends Tatum Ridge. Mrs. Brewer was Morgan's favorite teacher at Ashton. I even had the opportunity to meet her mother, Mrs. Clark, at my former place of employment. Mrs. Clark had come up to my desk and asked who had a daughter named Morgan. Morgan had mentioned to me that Mrs. Clark substitued at Ashton, so it was hard for me to tell Morgan about Mrs. Brewer's death. My family donated some dog and cat food to the Humane Society this morning as the family requested. We are also great animal lovers. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Brewer and Clark family during this difficult time. Mrs. Brewer will be greatly missed.

When you and I met as substitute teachers at Ashton, you told me that your daughter, Pam, was one of the second grade teachers there too. I then became a fan of the "mother-daughter" talented teaching duo. Pam was an enthusiastic, wonderful "gift" to Ashton. We were all blessed knowing her and working with her. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Greg, Lee, and Candice
I send my deepest condolences to all of you in this time of grief. My mom told me about it lastnight when I talked to her. It was just back in the end of February beginning of March that I saw Pam. It was after I returned back to England from my deployment to Iraq. I went to stop by and say hello to some old teachers and I was greeted with open arms, a big hug and many smiles. I told your mom that I just returned from Iraq and she was happy to see that I was okay. Of course it was always like Pam to ask me how the military was and wanted me to tell her classes what I do in the miilitary. Your mom was the best. Lee you and I grew up together and hung out alot growing up. I know that the loss of your mother will be missed and felt through many who had the opportunity to come across her path. She was sweet and always cared about everyone and what we were doing with ourselves. Feel free to email me anytime. I am sorry that I am unable to be there as a friend to you in this time.

To Greg, Lee & Family and all the Brewers & Clarks,
Our heartfelt condolences to all those that loved Pam. Her passing was a shock to us and to many of you as well I am sure. To say she will be missed by many could not be more evident, especially by someone who had touched as many lives as Pam had done in her lifelong passion for teaching and helping others.
As her younger cousin, I will always remember the times I spent with her in my youth. The days at the beach and the vibrant young woman who always seemed so cheerful and happy. Her long brown hair and warm smile only hinted at the beauty she possessed inside and her spirit that would come to be endeared by all who knew her.
God Bless You Pam

As a remarkable mom, wife and influence on so many grateful souls, she will not only be remembered but honored. Someone so special can never be forgotten. It will be the little things that you remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.
Praying for friends to comfort you, faith to uphold you, and loving memories to help you gain courage to smile until you meet again.

I moved to FL in 1974. Pam became my dearest friend. I will never forget our long talks, tennis matches, flea marketing, dinners and love. Although I was never fortunate enough to have Pam educate my boys I know that she was a wonderful teacher. I remember going to Sun City with her in June of 1976. It was her first day of vacation and she made the trip so that she could acquire the educational crafts that the seniors had made for her incoming fall students. She was a wonderful help to me when I had my children. Several years after my sons were born she was blessed to have her own son. She loved her little boy so much. In recent years, as she shared her grandchildren stories she still radiated with love and warmth. Whenever I would ask her when she was going to retire... the answer was always, NEVER, I love what I am doing. There are so many people that were blessed to have had Pam in their lives. Our condolences to your entire family.

Dear family,
So sorry to hear about Pam, who was a wonderful mother, who loved her husband and was a awesome teacher. My son had Pam as his teacher the year(s) she taught second grade, and then moved with her class to third grade. I volunteered in the class all the time and the memories I have are wonderful. I still have Christmas decorations from Pam, which were made by her and the students (I still put them on my Christmas Tree). The butterfly garden and all the butterflies we watched for those two years, were just amazing. We had to put in a butterfly garden of our own after my child moved to fourth grade. She was a wonderful person. We thank God He put her in our life for those two years.
We are praying for you family.
PS: I also remember Lee. So happy he is married and has kids.

"I wish you enough!" I never really thought that I'd spend as much time in airports as I do. I don't know why. I always wanted to be famous and that would mean lots of travel. But I'm not famous, yet I do see more than my share of airports.
I love them and I hate them. I love them because of the people I get to watch. But they are also the same reason why I hate airports. It all comes down to "hello" and "goodbye."I must have mentioned this a few times while writing my stories for you.
I have great difficulties with saying goodbye. Even as I write this I am experiencing that pounding sensation in my heart. If I am watching such a scene in a movie I am affected so much that I need to sit up and take a few deep breaths. So when faced with a challenge in my life I have been known to go to our local airport and watch people say goodbye. I figure nothing that is happening to me at the time could be as bad as having to say goodbye.
Watching people cling to each other, crying, and holding each other in that last embrace makes me appreciate what I have even more. Seeing them finally pull apart, extending their arms until the tips of their fingers are the last to let go, is an image that stays forefront in my mind throughout the day.
On one of my recent business trips, when I arrived at the counter to check in, the woman said, "How are you today?" I replied, "I am missing my wife already and I haven't even said goodbye."
She then looked at my ticket and began to ask, "How long will you...Oh, my God. You will only be gone three days!" We all laughed. My problem was I still had to say goodbye.
But I learn from goodbye moments, too.
Recently I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together. They had announced her departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and he said, "I love you. I wish you enough." She in turn said, "Daddy, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Daddy."
They kissed and she left. He walked over toward the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say goodbye to someone knowing it would be forever?"
"Yes, I have," I replied. Saying that brought back memories I had of expressing my love and appreciation for all my Dad had done for me. Recognizing that his days were limited, I took the time to tell him face to face how much he meant to me.
So I knew what this man experiencing.
"Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye?" I asked.
"I am old and she lives much too far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is, the next trip back would be for my funeral," he said.
"When you were saying goodbye I heard you say, "I wish you enough." May I ask what that means?"
He began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone." He paused for a moment and looking up as if trying to remember it in detail, he smiled even more."When we said 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them," he continued and then turning toward me he shared the following as if he
were reciting it from memory.
"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much
bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."
He then began to sob and walked away.
My friends, I wish you enough!

My son had much difficulty in the second grade. We learned he had a learning disability which left him quite stressed. Some days he would not want to go to school. Deciding to leave him back in the second grade our live's changed.
We met Mrs. Brewer With much love for teaching and compassion for my son. He made leaps in his education and just loved Mrs. Brewer. We were Lucky to have her two years in a row. He looked forward to going to school and enjoyed her class. He is in the sixth grade now and will still say Mrs. Brewer was his Favorite Teacher. Pam Brewer was one of my most favorite teachers in elementary school. She inspired me to become a teacher. I am finishing my first year teaching fourth grade this year. I still have a journal that I kept with Mrs. Brewer during second grade, which I shared a few years ago in college. She took the time to write to each student every week. I also saved a collage of pictures she made for me at the end of the school year. I created similar collages for my students and told them I got the idea from a great teacher I had in school. I showed my students the collage Mrs. Brewer made and explained to them how special it was to me. She was a wonderful person with a huge heart. She touched so many lives and will always be remembered. My sympathy is with her family during this time.

My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone. I worked with Pam at Ashton and loved her dearly. Her endless caring and love for others always shined through. Pam was truly an inspiration to me not only as a teacher, but as a caring and loving individual.
A couple of my favorite memories of Pam include her "Sales Rack" of clothes in the closet of her classroom, the infamous "hot pink hand" chair, Pam sitting on the swing at the playground with her children during recess, handing out Smarties, ALWAYS focusing on the positives in children, and the love that she had for her family.
Thanks for all of the great memories Pam!

My daughter Ali was in Mrs. Brewer's class for 2nd and 3rd grade. She and Dane Derstine went to visit Pam last spring after graduation from Riverview. Mrs. Brewer had made a real impact on their lives, and they remembered the experience even as 18 year olds. She taught practical skills as well as required info, things like how to read a bus schedule! We really enjoyed having her for a teacher.
