Paul Newell Obituary

Paul D. Newell
Keystone Heights - It is with profound sadness that the family of Paul D. Newell announces his passing on May 3, 2021.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Idessa Parker, and his son, Adam Parker Newell. He is survived by his wife Marcia Hall, his sons David (Betsy) and Joey (Kelly), his step-daughters Chrissy (Jamie) and Mindy (Mike), 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
Paul was born on March 5th, 1946 and spent most of his childhood in Kalkaska, Michigan, where he was raised by his beloved mother Grace Parker. After graduating high school, Paul attended Central Michigan University before receiving his Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. Upon his completion of law school at the University of Florida, he had a brief professional stint in Fort Pierce before ultimately starting his own legal practice in Keystone Heights, where he would remain as a fixture for nearly fifty years. Paul was a well-respected attorney and took great pride in his ability to provide his clients with the highest level of legal service based on his knowledge and experience. Throughout the duration of his career, he fostered many long-term relationships with clients, employees, and colleagues that would endure for decades, a testament to his integrity and loyalty both professionally and personally.
Aside from his professional achievements, Paul was known for his generous spirit, his kind heart, his quick wit, and his seemingly endless depth of knowledge. He had an appreciation for both the finer things and the simple things in life, particularly with food and culture; he could enjoy a gas station tuna sandwich and an expensive steak in equal measure. He took part in many hobbies and activities throughout his life that brought him great joy, including hunting, fishing, golfing, reading, stock trading, collecting, and working on home projects with his wife Marcia. He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators and attended as many football and basketball games as possible with his son David.
Paul's death leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who loved him. His spirit will live on in his family and friends, who will hold him close to their hearts forever. He will be missed every day.
The family has chosen to hold a private memorial to celebrate Paul's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul's name to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America at https://myasthenia.org

I met Paul when he used to spend time in Grayling. We had a mutual interest in sports, especially basketball which we enjoyed together on outside courts. Paul was athletic combined with a great intellect. So sorry to hear of his passing.

A boyhood friend from Kalkaska, we spent many days playing ball, tag, hide and seek and just being kids. One of the best sense of humors I've been around. Just sorry to hear of his passing. God speed my friend. RON
