Peggie Greuling's Greatest Legacy [from son Shannon]
Peggie was always a very colorful person, and I could spend a long time reminiscing about my mother's many anecdotes, I'm sure. But I want to concentrate on what I believe has had the most effect on the largest number of people. This is what she has brought to children of all ages. I have seen her dedicate many years to the musical education of hundreds and thousands of children. She had a very intricate understanding of how to capture their interest and encourage their development of personal musical achievement.
Peggie believed and taught, that no one was tone-deaf, rather their musical abilities just hadn't been awakened yet. She was able to start young learners to hear musical notes and match them with their own voice, and get over that first hurdle to being able to appreciate music and their ability to produce it on their own. I often sat in on her classes as I was awaiting a ride home, and was able to see the look in their eyes as they discovered that they too could learn to sing in key.
She also had a drive to create and organize groups, both in and out of schools, so as to not leave anyone out, by making a variety of musical styles into various groups with differing abilities. This continued into her twilight years, with things like choral, instrumental and bell choir activities for all the seniors around her, regardless of their abilities.
So many times people would come across Mom at the supermarket, bank, or other places crossing paths later in life, and remark about how they loved remembering the way she had taught and inspired them when they were little. I know there are many people out there who will miss Mom but will always have fond memories of the efforts that she went through to make sure everyone was a success at enjoying and producing music.

Peggie was an amazing woman of talent and
strength. We will miss her voice in the
