TERRY MATHIS Obituary
Gainesville - Terry Mathis, a retired Sales Representative for Florida Pest Control died August 7, 2013 at his home in Ocala, Florida.
Terry was born on April 8, 1945 in Jasper, Florida and has been a resident of Gainesville and Ocala since 1952.
He graduated from Gainesville High School and was a member of the Elks Club, Touchdown Club and the Blue Knights. Terry was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara L. Mathis, daughters, Dana Mathis (Greg), Brenda Banks (Ryan) Joey Magnusson (Oliver), Grandson Cody Watson and two brothers, Bennie Mathis and Steven Mathis (Angie). He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Lou Zipperer and Father, Maxie Mathis.
In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration ceremony for family and friends to honor his life.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to cancer research.

Brenda, Dana and family...so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Know that he is now well; no longer suffering and in a wonderful place with our Heavenly Father. Keep in touch, love you all!

Dana and Brenda..... So very sorry to hear about my dear friend (and your daddy) Terry! We use to Dance at "Teen Town" together back in the late 50's and 60's .. If Terry wasn't entering " The Friday Night Bop Contest" with Kay Adams..He and I were entering the contest.. and Won ...all the time! He was such a sweetheart and so funny and Ya Know.. had that magnetic.. Krazy Fun Loving Personality... I will miss that "Huge Smile"!!
I knew you all Heartbroken right now.. BUT, know This.. " He is Dancing his little skinny legs off in "God Kingdom " now and still winning in every way.....and He is...pain free.. and at PEACE... Love you both.. Much love to Mom and all of your sweet family..! Prayers for your Healing ... Thank you for all our Special Memories that he shared with us ! I am a better person today...for having Known him ...We will always smile when we Speak his name..

Well, another 6th Terrace neighbor gone. I am so sorry to hear about Terry and that he had cancer. I send my love and best wishes to Barbara, Kathy, RoRo, Bennie and Stephen. Love and prayers to all of you.

Barbara - I'm so sorry for the loss of Terry. I now live in North Carolina and regret not being able to come visit you.
