Donald Steven “Steve” Lanier Obituary

Mr. Donald Steven "Steve" Lanier, age 65, of Flowery Branch passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home, Flowery Branch, Ga. The Rev. Gary Wilson will officiate. Interment will take place in his home town of Lynchburg, Va., on Monday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at Clear View Baptist Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steve's life.

Steve was born on June 2, 1950, in Lynchburg, Va. He graduated from U.S. Army Infantry School with a diploma as an Infantry Indirect Fire Crewman; in 1969 Steve was promoted to Sergeant. He was presented a Bronze Star medal for his outstanding meritorious Army service in connection with military operation against hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam during the period of July 1969-July 1970. He was presented the Bronze Star medal and First Oak Leaf Cluster by the United States Army, who distinguished himself by outstanding meritorious achievement in support of military operations against communist aggression in the Republic of Vietnam, during the period of Jan. 1, 1970-April 30, 1970. He was honorably discharged on June 1, 1974.
Steve had just celebrated his 30th year of faithful employment as director of facilities and maintenance at Road Atlanta Race Track of Braselton. His family and friends will always remember him as a loyal and honorable person.

Steve is survived by his mother, Elsie Elliot Lanier of Alta Vista, Va.; his two loving children, Stephanie E. Lanier and Austin J. Lanier of Flowery Branch, Ga.; sister, Ann Lanier Woody of Lynchburg, Va.; brothers, Randy Lanier and Bobby Lanier of South Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father, Noel Edward Lanier Jr., of Alta Vista, Va.; and his brother, Glenn Lanier of South Florida.
