Dr. Paul Cowan Martin Obituary
Dr. Paul Cowan Martin, 56, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Saturday, Oct. 28. Born on June 10, 1961, in Miami, Fla., to Charles Raymond and Margaret Susan Martin, Paul attended Coral Gables High School where he was a state track champion.
He attended the University of South Carolina on a football scholarship where he was a member of the Block C Club.
He then played professional football for the Montreal Concorde for two seasons.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, he completed his Radiology Residency at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Paul moved his family to Gainesville after practicing in Swainsboro, Ga., and Union, S.C. He joined Gainesville Radiology Group and practiced there until his death.
Paul was the father of Cameron (deceased), Andrew, Mary Katherine and Kristin. He is also survived by his brother Philip and his wife Ellie. Paul was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
