Paul David Ross Obituary

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Paul David Ross, 88, of Clarkesville. Mr. Ross passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Devon O'Kelly and the Rev. Jerry Vandiver officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth.

Mr. Ross was born on Oct. 20, 1921, in Hart County, Ky., to Frank Ross and Mattie Lee Burd. He served with Honor in the U.S. Army during World War II earning a Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. He was the former owner of the PennySaver Grocery in Mulberry, Fla., and moved to Habersham County in 1999, where he was a member of Friendly Mission Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Hatfield Ross.

Survivors include his son, David Ross, Duluth; daughters, Jeannie Rawdin, Sautee, and Sharon Williams, Pansy, Ala.; and special friends, the Betty Jones family. Mr. Ross is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Friendly Mission Baptist Church.
